Course Description
This hands-on class will introduce participants to the creative process of painting flowers with acrylics, with a strong focus on colour mixing and layering. We will explore how to mix colours, create depth by building up layers of paint, and use different brush techniques to add texture, movement and expression. Participants will be guided through creating a floral painting while experimenting with composition, colour and technique, allowing each person to develop the painting in their own unique creative style. The emphasis is on learning, experimenting and having fun with colour while enjoying the freedom of acrylic painting.

Artist Statement and Biography
For me, painting bright floral paintings is about more than flowers. It is about the emotions that colour can awaken and the beauty we sometimes overlook in everyday life. My artistic journey is fueled by a deep passion for colour which I believe is a language of its own, capable of transcending barriers and stirring deep emotions. Flowers represent growth, renewal and the fleeting nature of life, while vibrant colour allows me to express joy, energy and optimism. The medium of acrylics allows me to explore and experiment with a wide range of brush strokes, bringing my compositions to life with vividness and vitality. Through my paintings I hope to inspire a renewed appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us and to encourage a deeper connection with nature. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create an emotional and sensory experience forever captured on the canvas. My work can be viewed at: www.lmdesignsstudio.com
Lauren Morris is a Vancouver-based fine artist, born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Her artistic journey has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with colour, light and the beauty found in the world around her. After completing four years of Graphic Design in South Africa, she traveled to the United States, where she attended classes at the Corcoran School of Art and developed a deeper appreciation for both design and fine art. Over the years, she has developed a distinctive artistic voice, recognized for her bold use of colour, expressive brushwork and energetic compositions. Working primarily in acrylics, her paintings explore the space between realism and abstraction. Flowers and the natural world are a constant source of inspiration, but colour lies at the heart of her work. She uses vibrant hues, layered brushstrokes and unexpected colour relationships to transform familiar subjects into something fresh and emotionally evocative. Through her work she hopes to create a moment of connection, inviting viewers to pause, look more closely and evoke emotion through visual imagery. Lauren has exhibited her work in many galleries and art exhibitions.

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a workshop, refunds are not issued, but you may find another person to take your place.
If the workshop is full and there is a willing replacement on the waitlist, you can cancel through Kolina Logan (kolinalogan@shaw.ca) in which case a refund will be issued.
No refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the workshop start time. NSAG reserves the right to cancel the course.
