Benefits of Membership
Monthly Demonstrations & Meetings |
You are welcome to come as a guest to our next meeting in order to find out more about the Guild prior to joining. If you like, you may submit your application then. Guests will have their first meeting counted as part of their attendance requirement if they choose to join. Meetings are the second Wednesday of the month (except July and August) at the Seniors' Activity Centre, 695 21st St, West Vancouver, BC V7V 4A7. Meetings start at 7:00 PM but we suggest arriving at 6:45 to speak with our Membership Director. The business meeting runs until 7:30, followed by a break and then for most meetings, a demonstration by a professional artist until 9:00 pm. The demonstration inspires, instructs and exposes members to a variety of materials, techniques and approaches. Meetings are also an opportunity for you to meet other fellow artists from across the North Shore. We look forward to meeting you! |
Workshops | Every year we host workshops led by guest artists and professional teachers which are open to both members and non-members. To see the current list of workshops and to register, CLICK HERE or use the Workshops item on the menu. These are held on the North Shore. |
Painting Groups | We have three weekly painting groups held at two locations on the north shore. The pre-scheduled nature of the sessions gets people painting regularly and the fellowship and feedback from one's peers is very valuable to the attendees. Click here to learn more about painting groups. |
Jurying | Juries are a valuable and anonymous way for artists to get feedback on their progress. Paintings selected in these jury sessions are then eligible for entry in upcoming juried shows. |
Shows |
One of the major benefits of the guild is the opportunity for members to show and sell their works at a number of large and small events each year. A new member should be aware that volunteering to assist the guild to acccomplish its many activities is expected of all members. As one indicator of this participation and volunteerism, to qualify to participate in our juries and shows, a member is required to attend 3 guild meetings in the 12 months prior to the end of their entry period. |
On-line Shows | Shows from the recent past are available for public viewing here on our website. Click Galleries. |
Artist Websites | This website is powered by unique software that also allows members with only modest computer skills to create and update their own personal artist website, easily and at a very reasonable cost. Members can not only display some of their work on the website but also store any number of images and descriptions in an inventory or archive for their own use. They can also have a set of contacts in the system and have a means of easily notifying them about upcoming events and news. |
