In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore expressive floral abstraction using brushes and a palette knife. The focus is on color harmony, texture, movement, and intuitive composition, allowing each artist to develop a personal visual language. This workshop is suitable for all levels and encourages freedom, confidence, and creativity through bold strokes and layered techniques.
Supplies
- 1 canvas 16”x 20”
- 1 small container of acrylic liquid glazing medium (satin or gloss) Liquitex or Golden
- 3 flat brushes 3-8-14
- 1 medium size pointy pallet knife (not too small or big)
- 1 disposable pallet paper block
- Acrylic paints (this are the recommended ones but feel free to bring more)
- Ultramarine blue
- Paynes gray blue
- Phthalo blue
- Veridian green
- Alizarin
- Cadmium red
- Cadmium yellow
- Titanium white
- Sienna (Burnt Sienna)
- Cover to protect table
- Tabletop easel (optional)
Artist Biography
Farahnaz Samari is a Persian-Canadian abstract artist based in Vancouver. Inspired by her childhood in Iran and the landscapes of British Columbia’s west coast, her work explores memory, emotion, color, and movement. She is an honours graduate of Fine Art & Interior Design from the University of Tehran and a graduate of Emily Carr University with a certificate in painting. With over 25 years of professional practice, Farahnaz has exhibited internationally in more than 80 solo and group exhibitions. Her artwork is represented at the Vancouver Fine Art Gallery for approximately five years, and she is a two-time Battle of the Brush champion in Vancouver. Her contemporary abstract works are collected across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a workshop, refunds are not issued, but you may find another person to take your place.
If the workshop is full and there is a willing replacement on the waitlist, you can cancel through Kolina Logan (kolinalogan@shaw.ca) in which case a refund will be issued.
No refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the workshop start time. NSAG reserves the right to cancel the course.
