2019 SAS Call for Submission

Show Dates and Location

Sun Apr 28, 10 AM - 5 PM

West Vancouver Community Centre, West Vancouver

Submission Period 

March 14 - April 12; however, if 400 paintings are accepted into the show, the Call will close sooner than April 12.

NOTE:  Once you complete and finalize your submission, no changes will be permitted.

Eligibility for this event Life or Active Member.
3 meetings attended in the 12 months prior to closing date of this call, i.e. April 12, 2018 - April 12, 2019.
Volunteering It is a requirement that each person registered for the SAS volunteer in some capacity for the show.  Exceptions might be granted; please send a written request to the Exhibitions Director Jennifer Demery (jenniferannedemery@gmail.com) for consideration.

No paper forms.

Payment

The only form of payment accepted is credit card.  Paying online by credit card is both fast and secure.  Your submission will not be approved until payment is received.

Photographs of your work

 

 

Images are not required for the show since there is no online gallery. However, if you submit photos, you are agreeing that they may be used on our Facebook Page or other social media to promote the event.

Photographs must be professional looking, i.e.

  • no glare
  • no frame or edges showing
  • properly oriented, not sideways or upside-down
  • 250 pixels minimum

Insurance

4 paintings - diptychs and triptychs count as one

 

Please be aware that the Guild does not carry insurance on paintings and cannot be held responsible for loss or damage. Paintings will be on location overnight.

Dimensions

Maximum dimension for entries (or exceptions allowed)

Maximum framed size is 40" square.

Size should be indicated as height x width.  

The # of oversize paintings that will be accepted is still being determined but for now,15 oversized paintings (over 40" but under 60", including frame) will be accepted, on a first-registered basis, one per artist.  

Additional Painting Requirements
  • Must be original art - no prints, giclees or photos
  • Paintings done in workshops using a photo provided by the workshop leader are NOT permitted.  The same applies to paintings where workshop leaders have worked on your painting.
  • All works must be dry. 
  • If framed, with frames in like-new condition, and if matted with mattes clean and unmarked
  • Works with thick layering can't extend beyond the frame more than 1/4 inch.
  • Must be wired for hanging with wire ends taped to prevent scratching
  • Glass frames with clips are not acceptable
  • Works must not have been submitted multiple times for the SAS

Minimum Pricing $100 All paintings must be priced a minimum of $100.
Entry Fees (per artist )

$15 entry fee, payable on registration and non-refundable after the Call closes.

Hanging Fee  $6 per painting, payable on registration.  Non-refundable after the Call closes.

Sales and Commissions 

Sales after the Show

All sales are subject to a 3-day return policy. The Guild receives a 15% commission.


Commission charges also apply to all sales up to 30 days after the show if the sale resulted from exposure at the show.

Intake time and date

Saturday April 27, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. 

Identification of your paintings The back of each entry must be labeled with the artist's name, contact info and the painting title. 

Pickup Time

5:05 PM on Sun April 28.

Please note: any artist who starts to take his/her paintings off the easels before 5:05 pm or fails to pick up his/her paintings by 6 pm Sunday April 28 will be excluded from the Winter Art Sale 2019.
