Course Description

This course will focus on the diversity and flexibility of acrylic paint.  If you'd like to introduce new techniques such as mono-printing and collage into your paintings, then this course will be of interest to you.   We'll be focusing on creating abstract backgrounds, and either developing an abstract painting or incorporating abstract with representational subject matter.   Teressa creates a friendly and inspiring environment in which to learn, and gives plenty of demonstrations as well as one-to-one guidance while encouraging you to develop or discover you own direction or style of painting.

Statement

"When I first started painting in watercolour, I was inspired by the way light fell on objects, and the way that light created fascinating shadows. Still attracted by light and shadow, I am also fascinated with shapes, colour and texture and how they relate to one another. My approach to painting has evolved over the years, from being a purest watercolourist to layering acrylic and collage with other mediums to achieve the desired results.

Although it is essentially natural for me to start my paintings with a drawing, I love to experiment and often start with an abstract under-painting and let the painting grow from there.   Throughout the years I have become more and more interested in the abstract, so I’m presently following my heart in that direction.
