Artist Statement

I have lived in North Vancouver British Columbia since 1989 when I emigrated from Ireland with my family.

Although I painted very little in my early adult years I did continue to attend drawing and painting classes/workshops when ever family and work committments allowed. I attended classes with Anita Nairne in Vancouver. I paint at home and with the NSAG Lawson studio Tuesday group.

When I retired I returned to my childhood love of painting. My paintings have been juried and exhibited at the Hycroft Gallery in Vancouver on a number of occasions in group shows and one individual show. I have exhibited with the "Artful Reflections"  painters at the Coach House and since joining the NSAG in 2012 have participated in Annual Fine Art Shows at Parkgate and West Vancouver community centres and the North Shore Art Crawl. My paintings have been displayed regularly in the NSAG gallery Brushstrokes at Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. My work has also been included in CityScape Anonymous Art Shows.

I try to recreate an impression of the wonders and beauty of life in places I have been, both urban and wild. If I can evoke some of the emotions I felt at the time, then I am well pleased.
