Born in Motherwell, Scotland; I was raised and schooled in  British Columbia I developed a keen interest in painting from an early age.  Now retired as an art and gym teacher with the North Vancouver School Board; I am devoting all of  my time to becoming a full time and professional artist:  focusing on the Canadian landscape.   My style continues to evolve through experimentation and practice. I  work in series on various themes and play with a variety of color arrangements.

I travel extensively finding and investigating a variety of landscapes and have visited many of the major art galleries in the world.  I take inspiration from the great masters and try to learn from them all.  In particular I am influenced by the Canadian Impressionists notably Suzor-Cote, Cullen, Thomson and the Group of Seven.

My Studio is located at 1180 Welch St. ( Welch St. Studios) in North Vancouver where I enjoy the company and influence of both established and emerging artists.  I also gives lessons both private and semiprivate at this location.  If interested you are invited to phone 604-209-1197 to arrange  an appointment for a critique of your portfolio to examine the best course of action for you as an artist.

I am a Past President of the North Shore Artists Guild; and Co-Founder  of the Annual North Shore Art Crawl.  I am also  an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the North Vancouver Community Arts Council.  I conduct workshops in a variety of fine art topics and teach a course "Paint Like the Impressionists" with the NVRC.
