"Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand ways" .......Oscar Wilde

Lori Bagneres, a visual artist born in Guelph, Ontario,  graduated from L’Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts de Grenoble, France in 1993 receiving a Diplome National Superieur  d’Expression Plastique (MA in Contemporary Art.)  Lori is  a member of 5enses, a group of five  women artists  meeting weekly to critique each other's work, share ideas , challenge their personal artistic journey, and  exhibit together in group shows . She is  also an active member of  both The Federation of the
Canadian Artists and the North Shore Artists Guild.  In December 2009, her painting entitled "Italian Nest" was selected by the North Shore Centre for print in support of the "Dare to Change" project.  The postcards were to commemorate the 20th annivesary of the massacre of the female students at L'ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.  The same painting can also be viewed in the book entitled "Artists of British Columbia-Vol I", recently published in 2010.

Lori currently pursues multiple creative interests as an artist, and  artist-in-residence for the past 10 years throughout numerous  elementary and high schools in  the Lower mainland of Vancouver. Her mixed media work is influenced by the modernist tradition of European and American Abstraction. Their compositions (semi-abstract /abstract) reveal texture, fragmented words, partial images and frayed geometric forms painted in saturated and transparent colours, at times juxtaposed against patches of blank canvas. The opaqueness and transparency of the  acrylic paint is varied order to achieve contrast and atmospheric depth.  Lori draws influence from memory, music, place and being.  Presently, she makes her home in North Vancouver with her husband and two sons., with her studio overlooking the Vancouver skyline to the south and then west, to the ocean and mountains; an inspiration to anyone and their imagination………

“Imagination is everything – it is the preview of life’s coming attractions. “ ..........Albert Einstein
