Description:
This scene is near Cape Caution which is at similar latitude to the north end of Vancouver Island, but on the mainland side. The early morning sun and the low cloud and fog created some very unusual and striking colours.
Notes:
The wide and relatively narrow canvas chosen seemed to fit the panorama best. The work is in oil and I used a painting knife for this work. I enjoy this technique and the effect. When I needed smoother gradations and softer edges in areas like the clouds, I use a rag to create the effect directly and quickly.
