Anne likes to look at the big picture in life. She studied in Toronto (B.A. in Philosophy & English) before marrying her husband Alex and devoting herself to a life of adventure. She taught in Nigeria for two years then travelled extensively in Africa and Asia. She moved to Vancouver in 1970. Since then, no Pacific Northwest backroad has escaped her family camping adventures. Her careers have included writer, editor, ESL teacher, office manager and family organizer. Her painting offers an exciting way to communicate a lifetime of images.
"My art education has been Vancouver-based. I have taken classes with many of the West Coast's most talented artists, including Velvet Bailes, Teressa Bernard, Fred Schafer, Elizabeth Smiley, Anne-Marie Harvey, and workshops with Kiff Holland, Rick McDiarmid, Barrie Chadwick and other members of the FCA. I've been on painting trips to the Danube, Italy, France and Britain. We are blessed to have access to such generous teachers, and I am committed to life-long learning.
"My paintings are an eclectic mix of subject matter, from familiar B.C. landscapes to remembered moments from world-wide travel. I love the spontaneity of transparent watercolours (and they're portable!), but I also love to explore the boldness of design possible in acrylics and mixed media. The common theme of my images is the magic of a beautiful moment captured."
Anne is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and of the North Shore Artists' Guild, and shows her work at their juried art shows. Her paintings have been seen at various North Shore venues, West Vancouver Municipal Hall, community art galleries, and the annual Harmony Arts Festival, as well as in private collections.
