Andrew Butler

Andrew ButlerBorn in Yorkshire, England and immigrated to B.C., Canada in 1995. I was taught to paint as a schoolboy and it has taken over 30 years for the brush to be raised again. Early influences were the impressionists Renoir and Monet with their bold brushstokes and vivid colors and the great masters of Rembrandt and van Dyke.

A visit to the National Gallery in London to view the works of William Turner led to a desire to paint landscapes where my passion lies today. The sheer magnificence of BC and Canada provides all the inspiration needed to paint mountains, lakes, streams and forests coloured by the seasons and the times of the day.
